TV appearance for Dan and Andy

Actors Andrew Knott and Daniel Healy, were invited onto STV's evening magazine show, The Hour yesterday to discuss their roles as John Lennon and Paul McCartney in Backbeat. This was aired at 5pm, when frankly, most of us are still working, so here's the link to watch again.

They're the very first segment on the show, so just watch from part 1. If you stick with it, you'll hear Dan's gorgeous rendition of A Taste of Honey.

What a week!

It's been a crazy week at the Citizens Theatre, the Backbeat cast and crew finally relocated to Glasgow. They've settled into their accommodation, figured out where the Gorbals is(!), and ploughed ahead with rehearsals.

After a hearty welcome drink on Monday night, some of the cast even stayed late to watch last night's Young Co. performance. Tonight, if you're in Glasgow, get down to McChuill's on High St for 9pm to hear the boys in the band perform a free practice gig. Then you can tell folk you've seen The Beatles!

The backstage team are currently working round the clock to get the auditorium ready for what's turning out to be a huge show. Our scenic artists are painting through the wee small hours and I've never seen so many sweaty men running round the building!

Audio/Visual Delights

In preparation for her role as iconic 60s photographer Astrid Kirchherr; Isabella Calthorpe has been snapping away throughout the London rehearsals. You can see her images on Flickr.

I have just got a couple of audio tracks from the show; the full band doing Roadrunner and a beautiful version of A Taste of Honey by Daniel Healy.

Listen!

Finally you can check out some more behind the scenes footage of Alex and Daniel having a last minute pre-gig practice. See more videos on YouTube.

Hair today...gone tomorrow

For us yesterday was just another cold day at the office, but for actress Isabella Calthorpe, it was a very big day as she faced the hairdressers scissors to get her hair cropped short - for the very first time. All this in preparation for her big role as Astrid Kirchherr in Backbeat, which opens at the Citz on 9 Feb.

Isabella who is recognisable in glamourous London circles for her gorgeous long blonde hair, was fortunate enough to have the whole affair managed by top Vidal Sassoon, Creative Director, Mark Hayes. Boyfriend Sam Branson (son of Richard) has by all accounts lent his support to the dramatic cut.

Seriously boys...these things can be traumatic for us.

Well done lady, we think it's great!

This famous self-portrait of Astrid shows the likeness Isabella has achieved.
